Malaysia Launches Year of Medical Tourism 2026 Campaign, Bolstered by Beverly Wilshire Medical and KL Wellness City Partnership

Malaysia has launched its transformative Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026 (MYMT 2026) campaign, cementing its status as a global leader in healthcare travel. Unveiled on July 24, 2025, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre, the campaign, themed “Healing Meets Hospitality,” builds on Malaysia’s recent recognition as the top medical tourism destination for 2025, as voted by industry rankings such as Nomad Capitalist. This accolade highlights Malaysia’s world-class healthcare infrastructure, affordability, and cultural allure. In a strategic boost to this initiative, Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre (BWMC) has partnered with KL Wellness City (KLWC) to launch a state-of-the-art facility in 2026, further elevating Malaysia’s appeal to international healthcare travelers.

The MYMT 2026 campaign, led by the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), aims to position Malaysia as the premier destination for medical and wellness tourism. In 2024, Malaysia welcomed 1.6 million healthcare travelers, generating RM2.72 billion in revenue—a 21% increase from 2023. MHTC has set an ambitious target of RM12 billion by 2030, with MYMT 2026 as a pivotal driver. The campaign, fronted by celebrated Malaysian singer Dato’ Seri Siti Nurhaliza, promotes Malaysia’s medical excellence to key markets, including Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia. Malaysia’s healthcare system shines with its affordability—treatments cost 30-60% less than in Western countries like the US or UK—while maintaining high standards. Hospitals such as Institut Jantung Negara, Island Hospital Penang, Mahkota Medical Centre, and Subang Jaya Medical Centre, accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI), excel in specialties like cardiology, orthopedics, oncology, and cosmetic surgery. The Flagship Medical Tourism Hospital (FMTH) program, with its winner to be announced in December 2025, will further spotlight Malaysia’s clinical prowess.

Malaysia’s 2025 ranking as the top medical tourism destination underscores its competitive edge over regional peers like Singapore and Thailand. The country’s appeal lies in its blend of cutting-edge medical facilities, highly skilled English-speaking professionals, and seamless travel experiences. Patients from Australia, the UK, and the Middle East are drawn to Malaysia’s cost-effective treatments, which include complex procedures like heart surgeries and aesthetic enhancements. The MYMT 2026 campaign enhances this allure by offering curated healthcare packages that integrate medical treatments with wellness and cultural experiences, such as spa retreats, traditional Malay massages, and tours of UNESCO heritage sites like Penang and Melaka. MHTC’s initiatives, including streamlined medical visas and partnerships with airlines, ensure accessibility, while Malaysia’s warm hospitality creates a welcoming environment for international visitors.

Complementing this vision, Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre, a leader in aesthetic medicine, cosmetic surgery, and wellness, has forged a landmark partnership with KL Wellness City, Southeast Asia’s first wellness-centric township. Signed on June 12, 2025, at the KLWC Gallery in Bukit Jalil, the agreement will see BWMC establish a 22,000-square-foot facility within The NOBEL Healthcare Park, KLWC’s flagship medical and wellness hub, set for completion by December 2025. Operations are slated to begin in mid-2026, offering advanced treatments in cosmetic surgery, anti-aging therapies, dental aesthetics, and hair restoration. Dato’ Francis Ng, CEO of Beverly JCG Ltd and Chairman of BWMC, described the collaboration as “a milestone in redefining aesthetic healthcare in Southeast Asia.” He emphasized that the facility will cater to both local and international clients, aligning with Malaysia’s medical tourism ambitions. Dato’ Sri Dr. Vincent Tiew, Executive Director of KLWC, highlighted that BWMC’s expertise complements KLWC’s mission to create a holistic healthcare ecosystem, integrating modern medicine with wellness and lifestyle offerings.

Spanning 26.5 acres in Bukit Jalil, KL Wellness City is designed to set new standards in sustainable healthcare. The NOBEL Healthcare Park, with its 624-bed international hospital (expandable to 1,000 beds), will combine conventional treatments with complementary therapies like acupuncture and herbal medicine. This partnership is expected to attract affluent clients seeking premium medical and wellness solutions, boosting Malaysia’s medical tourism revenue and reinforcing its 2025 ranking. The township’s luxury wellness suites and retail components further enhance its appeal as a comprehensive health destination.

As Malaysia gears up for MYMT 2026, the synergy of its top-tier healthcare system, global recognition as the 2025 medical tourism leader, and innovative collaborations like BWMC and KLWC positions the nation to redefine global healthcare travel. With its blend of advanced medicine, affordability, and heartfelt hospitality, Malaysia is not only healing bodies but also creating memorable experiences for visitors worldwide, solidifying its place as a beacon of medical and cultural excellence.
