This spring sees the return of Luke Goss to the record industry. Now known simply as Luke, he has returned to music after almost three decades to make a triumphant return and give his fans what they have been waiting for with his new single – Free.
Written by Luke, Free is a chilled track with moody, downbeat vibes combined with Latino style instruments and snatches of joyful percussion. The lyrics speak of a yearning for freedom, individuality and positivity, but contrast with Luke’s emotional, rasping voice. This is a song that melds together light and dark, hope and sadness, and shows the maturity of Luke as an artist and songwriter. Music was Luke’s first love, and over the years whilst busy with his successful movie career Luke has not stopped experimenting and developing as a musician, keeping his sound fresh and responding to the changes in his life as they unfold. This is the sound of a musician who has a story to tell and is now ready to tell that through a unique and masterful songwriting ability.
Luke said recording under simply his name, “let me open my wings musically in a way, it feels like my first free musical expression”.
The single is accompanied by a video. Shot on location in Joshua Tree the sweeping panoramic scenes and stunning skies are combined with raw close ups on Luke’s face in the shadows. The video suggests a classic black and white cowboy movie, with all the epic storytelling that goes along with the genre. Directed by Luke, it’s clear that his wealth of experience in blockbuster Hollywood movies has been put to good use.
With this track Luke is baring his soul. Recorded during lockdown in Los Angeles, Luke collaborated with Lugo Gonzalez, a two-time Grammy nominated, multi-platinum music producer who has worked with the likes of Madonna, Ricky Martin and Janet Jackson.
‘Free’ by Luke is now available worldwide on iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, Deezer and Pandora.
