LibertyONE is a DIY full-size manned drone. It is an open-source 3D printable manned drone for one to four persons.
By making the resulting Frame Elements open source and 3D printable, the makers hope to make manned drones accessible to everyone. In comparison to other options, the drone has several distinguishing qualities, it is lighter, and its owner may customize it by changing out pieces or combining the frame elements in different ways. It is easily scaleable from a 1- to a 4-seater drone.
The fundamental design is completed, and the components needed to ship the initial batches of the DIY Kits are selected. With assistance from Boeks GmbH, the makers still need to design a controller and their battery pack. More pre-orders enable them to deliver a customized power pack as an upgrade sooner. The money is used for finishing touches, improvements, the design of more frame elements they can select, and extra 3D-Printers (lease) to print more things simultaneously.
To drastically save expenses, they can also create a custom-designed, in-house controller and a battery pack with the bare minimum of funding. Like the frame components, both would be made open source.
The concept of aviation will change because of LibertyONE. Everyone will be able to construct their drone, enabling start-ups and established businesses to work together and advance together.
The ability to print things using 3D printers significantly lessens the impact on the environment.
Although spare parts and elements are standardized, anyone can redesign and improve them. This guarantees ongoing accessibility and assistance. To support community initiatives and to create jobs, if the campaign is successful, they will relocate their production to Cameron.
The biggest challenge is to help the drones be permitted to fly globally. However, the makers hope to overcome them.
