LECHUZA – The $6K Horror Film That Survived a Curse to Haunt Halloween 2025

Just in time for Halloween, a new supernatural thriller is clawing its way into the spotlight and its origin story is as chilling as the film itself.

LECHUZA, distributed by BayView Entertainment (known for Skinamarink, I Am Lisa, and The Yellow Wallpaper), is a folklore-fueled horror film born from sacrifice, obsession, and pure indie grit. Filmmaker Alfons Emilian sold his car to fund the project, built the creature by hand, and even endured a catastrophic computer crash during post-production forcing a full rebuild from the ground up.

“At first, I felt this film was cursed but somehow, with enough sages, cleansing ceremonies, and protection spells, the path cleared and LECHUZA survived,” said Alfons Emilian, Writer/Director.

LOGLINE

When a family’s camping trip turns into a nightmare, they must confront a sinister witch-turned-demon known as Lechuza, who seeks to tear them apart.

LECHUZA follows Jeremiah and Elena, a young couple who take their nephew Elijah and niece Haley on a camping trip to celebrate Elijah’s 11th birthday. But their adventure takes a dark turn after a strange encounter with an old woman lying at a crossroads. Jeremiah’s attempt to help is met with a hiss and a curse that will haunt them all.

At a remote country store, the same woman grabs Elijah and warns that Lechuza is coming. The family escapes, but it’s already too late. At the campsite, Elijah and Haley spot a grotesque creature lurking in the woods. That night, Jeremiah tells the legend of Lechuza, a witch who sold her soul to the devil and preys on children.

Soon, Elijah’s nightmares bleed into reality. A voodoo doll appears. Whispers echo through the trees. Under the full moon, the witch transforms into a winged demon. As the family flees through the woods, their cries for help are swallowed by supernatural silence. Jeremiah confronts the creature and meets a brutal end. Elena’s last breath is spent trying to protect the children, but the demon’s wrath is unstoppable.

In a heart-stopping climax, the family is torn apart, leaving behind only a chilling reminder of the curse that claimed them. With its haunting atmosphere, relentless tension, and pulse-pounding fear, LECHUZA brings sinister folklore to life in an unforgettable cinematic experience.
