Langston, OK – May 9, 2024 – Tayren James, an exceptional junior finance major at Langston University, has been honored as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Economic Club of Oklahoma Scholarship, marking a significant achievement in her academic career. This scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding students in economics and finance from nine participating universities across central Oklahoma.
For over sixty years, The Economic Club of Oklahoma has served as a cornerstone for dialogue and leadership in the Oklahoma business community. It hosts discussions with local and national experts to address the most pressing economic and social issues of the day.
This $2,000 scholarship, awarded by the Economic Club of Oklahoma, highlights Ms. James’ remarkable financial achievements and active role in enhancing the university’s leadership and community engagement mission. As Vice President of Langston University’s Scholars Club and an active member of several organizations, Tayren exemplifies the qualities that define Langston’s core values.
Ms. James, maintaining a stellar 3.7 GPA, is not only a McCabe Honors student but also a recent recipient of Langston’s President’s Honor Award. This accolade underscores her profound commitment and outstanding contributions to finance. Her involvement extends beyond academics, as she is the Vice President of the Langston University Scholars Club and an active member of the NAACP, Women of Purpose, and the Langston Choir.
Ms. James’ achievements and active community service engagement demonstrate her potential to be a leading figure in the business world. She aspires to obtain her CPA license, further advancing her career in finance.
