Lakeside Union School District Breaks Ground on New Gymnasium For Tierra del Sol Middle School

Lakeside, CA – March 30, 2021 – Lakeside Union School District officially broke ground for its brand new gymnasium building for Tierra del Sol Middle School on March 3rd, 2021, at 11:00 am. The exciting project was initially approved by the Lakeside community in November 2014 and will take roughly 11 months to complete, with the estimated completion being February 2022. The district is thrilled to start expanding its facilities to provide students more opportunities and recreational areas.

The new gym will include 8,500 square feet of recreational area and an adjoining 1,900 square foot weight room. The recreational area will have a full-sized basketball court, 2 half-courts or volleyball courts, and bleachers to seat approximately 450 students. To top it all off, there will be a scoreboard and sound system for future athletic and student events.

The process of design for the new structure was completed through collaboration between Bob Webb & Deb Vaughn-Cleff from Studio WC and school staff, including Principal Hardiman & P.E. teachers. Every detail was taken into account to ensure the designs met the needs of all Tierra del Sol Middle School students.

Construction of the well-planned design, is being done by 3 local East County Contractors and is funded by general obligation bonds from Measure L.

The Lakeside Union School District looks forward to many events and athletic competitions to take place at the new gymnasium in the future and is excited to see the community benefit as a whole.
