French teacher Kathy Ferroggiaro received the surprise of a lifetime from a former student and beauty company Benefit Cosmetics. Ferroggiaro teaches at Laguna Creek High School in the Elk Grove Unified School District.

Laguna Creek High School class of 2004 graduate, Ellarie Noel, made a name for herself in the beauty industry as a beauty blogger. With more than 1.4 million followers on the social media platform, the Instagram sensation is a fine example of how trials can lead to finding a passion. Ellarie, a single mother now based in Atlanta, Georgia, was laid off from her job in 2014 and decided to take a leap full-time into the world of beauty influencers.

Ellarie hasn’t forgotten the people that had an impact on her in high school. Last month, she partnered with Benefit Cosmetics to surprise one of Laguna Creek High School’s finest, Kathy Ferroggiaro, aka Madam F. Ellarie attributes her positive outlook on life to Madam F, calling the teacher her biggest cheerleader for success during her educational career. Ellarie showed up to LCHS with a check from Benefit Cosmetics for the school for $10,000 and a $5,000 check for Madam F to venture out on a trip of her choice.

Madam F has been teaching for over 30 years and has been an integral part of so many Laguna Creek Cardinals’ high school careers since 1999. “She is a teacher I remembered even after high school and even after college. I would have a first period class and be having a bad day and know that when her class was next, the rest of my day was going to change,” Ellarie said. She described Madam F as someone who is always positive and gave her an outlook on life that helped Ellarie to push herself further in her education.

Madam F says she will ensure the money donated to LCHS from Benefit will go toward “evening the playing field” for students who have less opportunities than more fortunate students. Madam F was so honored just to be thought of by a former student 15 years later and said, “Just knowing that Ellarie even remembered me is so precious to me. It’s very powerful to know that you’ve had an impact on another human being.” The Laguna Creek High School Cardinals are proud to have such an amazing professeur de français!
