While the Pandemic did more than put a stop to longtime businesses and budding careers, in Dallas it was just putting a pin in Fashion Designer Baqash Wilson’s playbook. Baqash Wilson, the founder of Konjo International has always enjoyed cultivating new creations for the world of fashion and pageantry through his award-winning company.
For forty years Baqash basked in the wondrous world of making diamond dripping evening wear for the exceptionally exquisite women and men of the pageant world and couture fashion statements for celebrities. The time to ponder and pivot was upon him. Would this new world of high speed technology and instant trendsetting be for him? Baqash turned his attention towards his Dallas-Fort Worth community as well as himself and that created a resurgence of energy for the future of Konjo International.
While many were left rudderless and adrift, the eternally spiritual and optimistic soul that is Baqash did everything to hunker down until he felt the time was right. Right it was to be, when longtime colleagues swayed him into returning to New York Fashion Week this September. Returning to a community and new generation whose momentum in creativity and output seemed to have tripled would make even the most seasoned designer take pause, but Baqash’s creative imagination was always poised toward the future. His Post-Pandemic designs met with positive impact on audiences in NYC and back home in Dallas. The outpouring of love was a testament to his past successes as well as to his newest surge of ethereal creations.

Konjo International COO Baqash R. Wilson has been in the couture clothing arena for more than 4 decades. His electric history has taken him around the world and back. Born in Bronx, New York Baqash always knew he would become a fashion designer. He has always enjoyed designing for all body types and shapes. His first menswear collection was shown at South Africa Fashion Week and his years overseeing the Miss Ethiopia beauty Pageant would set his company’s path.
