Khemosafe Builds Smart Device to Mitigate Against Hazardous Chemotherapy Exposure

Khemosafe is on a mission to save the lives of health care workers and patients with its smart technology device. The company has built this cutting-edge smart technology device for hazardous waste disposal. This smart hazardous waste disposal device is built to mitigate against hazardous vapor exposure from chemotherapy and provide clean air for everyone involved. The smart unit provides a collection method that uses technology to prevent exposure to hazardous vapors.

Research has shown that more than 1.7 million new cancer cases are diagnosed each year in the US and around 650,000 cancer patients receive chemotherapy every year in an outpatient oncology clinic in the US. This statistic indicates that nurses and hospital workers are constantly exposed to hazardous chemicals like those from cytostatic drugs.

Khemosafe is founded by Louis Soto who worked as a pharmacist for 26 years and experienced firsthand the dangers of hazardous waste vapor exposure. Louis believes that nurses should not put their health at risk when they administer chemotherapy treatments to their patients. However, this is exactly what happens when nurses dispose of hazardous waste. While people are just getting aware of this huge problem, Khemosafe has designed this smart technology device to get rid of it one hospital at a time following the standards of USP 797 and USP 800.

The smart disposal unit made for every medical facility across the country and beyond works in four simple steps. The device which is motion sensored and hands-free seals the waste safely and securely as soon as a nurse deposits the material. This solves the problem of seepage and exposure to dangerous vapors. Then the waste is weighed and automatically uploaded to the Cloud. The final weight is taken before collection and uploaded so it can be later checked against disposal company billing. Algorithms track this data over time to reveal patterns and details that help medical facilities to manage their expenses and protect the environment.

This unit not only protects against nurses’ exposure to chemotherapy but also empowers and helps hospitals make future waste plans while reducing costs. Khemosafe helps health institutions to contain costs by allowing each facility to take complete control of how its hazardous waste is collected. Khemosafe is working in line with its mission which is to make sure that every nurse, custodial worker, hospital, and clinic employee can feel confident that they are safe in their workplace. While they have started by providing this device to the people in the healthcare system, they however plan to develop smaller systems for private and residential use.

According to Founder, Louis Soto, “Khemosafe smart technology will save lives by mitigating hazardous vapor exposure to nurses, patients, and the environment.”

About KhemoSafe

KhemoSafe is a start-up company that develops technology that is used to create equipment in making the collection of hazardous waste safer. Louis Soto, the founder of KhemoSafe Inc, worked as a pharmacist for 26 years, experiencing firsthand the dangers of hazardous waste vapor exposure.  After being diagnosed with sarcoidosis due to exposure, he patented the KhemoSafe smart-unit design to ensure that no other health care worker gets sick on the job again.

Khemosafe currently has a Regulation Crowdfunding offering through TruCrowd. Regulation Crowdfunding is a method created by the SEC for companies to raise money by selling securities.
