John Ritenour Responds to the 2020 Symetra Tour Schedule Revisions

Former Chairman and CEO of IOA Commends the Official Qualifying Tour of the LPGA

LONGWOOD, Fla. – May 18, 2020 – In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Symetra Tour – Road to the LPGA – released a carefully modified schedule for the 2020 season, and IOA co-founder John Ritenour has nothing but praise for the tour’s dedication to minimizing risk while preserving competition for both players and affiliates.

Although concerns over the coronavirus pandemic have shortened the 2020 Symetra Tour from 20 to 16 tournaments, competition will extend into November to accommodate as much of the tour as possible. Lengthening the season by five weeks, the revised 2020 schedule features two new tournaments in the updated lineup.

“This year has presented challenges unlike those faced by the golf community in the past. We are so proud of the leadership of the Symetra Tour in doing everything they can to keep this important tournament moving forward despite unprecedented conditions,” explained Ritenour.

COVID-19 presented conflicts for two of the three Symetra Tour legs that IOA sponsors, which include the IOA Championship, IOA Classic, and IOA Invitational. In collaboration with IOA Chairman and CEO Heath Ritenour, John Ritenour, and the rest of the IOA team, representatives of the Symetra Tour are working diligently to reschedule the two tournaments.

Initially scheduled for March 27–29, the IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort & Spa will now run from Aug. 21–23. The IOA Classic, however, is still set for its original date, Sept. 25–27. While the Symetra Tour team has not yet revealed a schedule revision for the currently postponed IOA Invitational, they are still working to safely reschedule this leg of the competition along with other events affected by the pandemic.
