Larry the Cable Guy (Daniel Lawrence Whitney) was born in Pawnee City, NE in 1963. His life in comedy got started when he was 16, he accepted a dare from a friend to perform a standup comedy routine at a local comedy club. The performance went over so well, when he was 25, he decided to quit his day job and perform full time.
Larry the Cable Guy name was born when Whitney began calling into local radio stations using the fake name to make his jokes. The character of Larry the Cable Guy was a huge hit. Larry the Cable guy as appeared on Evening at The Improv, Showtime, MTV, and Comedy Central.
The Blue Collar Comedy Tour with Larry the Cable, Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, and Ron White got started in 2000. It was a huge hit selling out venue from coast to coast. Two years later, The Blue Collar Comedy Tour became a Comedy Central movie.
Larry the Cable Guy has acted in several movies like Cars as the voice of Mater and appeared in Delta Farce with fellow Blue Collar Comedian Bill Engvall.
Jeff Foxworthy is a comedian from Atlanta, GA and one of the most recognized names in comedy today. He became famous by using jokes starting with the phrase ‘you might be a redneck’. Foxworthy is part of the Blue Collar Comedy group (made up of Ron White, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, and Jeff Foxworthy). The tour was a huge success, and went on to sell thousands of tickets to venues nationwide.
Jeff Foxworthy studied at Georgia Tech University, following in his father’s footsteps. After graduation, he went to work for IBM. After 5 years he left his desk job and began the path to his dream, comedy. Per JeffFoxworthy.org, after he won the Southeastern Laugh-Off at the Punch Line Comedy club he left his career in computers for comedy.
In 1993, Foxworthy released his album, You Might Be A Redneck If…, which fully introduced the comedy world to Jeff Foxworthy.
After the success of that album, Foxworthy decided to give TV a go with the “The Jeff Foxworthy Show”. Although the sitcom failed, Foxworthy did not give up and continued to release his music, comedy tapes, and books.
The Marshall Tucker Band appears all five nights. Foghat appears Aug. 25-26 and Sept. 15. Eddie Money plays Dallas.
