The rural Jamul-Dulzura Union School District is proud to have an awardee of the Greater San Diego Reading Association in their midst at Jamul Primary School. Kindergarten teacher Susan Gackowski from Jamul Primary School was selected to receive an Award of Excellence from the association during an event that honors librarians, teachers, and community leaders for excellence in advancing literacy in their community. The Greater San Diego Reading Association is a non profit organization with the goal of promoting literacy and a love for reading and has been serving San Diego County community for over 40 years.

Susan Gackowski was chosen because of her strong leadership, dedication to students, and her superior ability to teaching reading and writing. She is called a teacher-extraordinaire by her peers and inspires her kindergarteners to be the best students they can be, all while instilling a lifelong love for reading.
