JABCHRISTI Synagogue Launches a New Kind of Spiritual Sanctuary for the “Spiritually Homeless”

Dover, Delaware – April 9, 2026 – In an era marked by disconnection, burnout, and a growing sense of spiritual emptiness, JABCHRISTI Synagogue is introducing a bold new model of community, one rooted not in rigid doctrine but in wonder, healing, and human connection.

Founded as a tax-exempt religious nonprofit, JABCHRISTI Synagogue is a reimagined spiritual space designed for those who feel caught between belief and doubt, individuals searching for meaning, ritual, and belonging in a world that often feels fragmented and impersonal.

“We live in a world where we can ask our phones anything, but struggle to ask each other what truly matters,” said Rabbi Billy, leader of JABCHRISTI. “People aren’t walking away from spirituality. They’re walking away from spaces where they don’t feel seen, heard, or understood. We’re building something different.”

Blending elements of Jewish tradition with universal wisdom, JABCHRISTI welcomes people of all backgrounds, including Jews, Christians, Muslims, atheists, and spiritual seekers, into a shared environment centered on reflection, growth, and connection.

The synagogue offers a wide range of services designed to support the whole person:

● Weekly Shabbat services and community gatherings

● Spiritual counseling rooted in compassion and tradition

● Life and career coaching, including résumé support

● Educational programming spanning sacred texts from diverse traditions, including Torah, Bible, and Qur’an, along with philosophy, science, and universal wisdom

● Community charity initiatives providing food, clothing, and essential resources

More than a place of worship, JABCHRISTI positions itself as a healing-centered sanctuary, particularly for those navigating spiritual burnout, religious trauma, or a deep sense of disconnection in the modern age.

To better understand the vision behind this emerging movement, we spoke with its founder.

Q&A WITH RABBI BILLY

Q: What problem is JABCHRISTI trying to solve? A: There’s a quiet crisis happening. People are disconnected from our Creator and searching for meaning. Many didn’t lose faith, they lost a place to belong. The spaces that once held these questions often feel inaccessible. We’re here to reconnect them to the Creator with clarity, purpose, and the energy to do great work in the world.

Q: How is this different from a traditional synagogue? A: We’re not centered on strict doctrine or conversion. We’re centered on experience, on awe, reflection, and inner transformation. You don’t have to believe anything specific to walk through our doors. You just have to be open.

Q: Who is this community for? A: For the ones who never quite fit. For people who left religion but still feel something calling them back. For anyone who’s ever asked, “Is there more than this?”, regardless of background, identity, or belief system.

Q: What does “spiritual but not religious” look like in practice here? A: It looks like conversation and teaching, not preaching. It’s about blending Torah with philosophy, science, and lived experience to help reconcile scripture with everyday life. It means creating space for questions, rather than rushing to answers or discouraging curiosity.

Q: What kind of impact are you hoping to create? A: At its core, the goal is to guide people back toward our Creator by encouraging them to look within. We want to rebuild something that’s been lost, a true sense of sacred belonging. If someone walks in feeling alone and leaves feeling seen, with a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world, that’s the impact. Everything else grows from there.

JABCHRISTI Synagogue operates as both a physical and evolving digital sanctuary, with a mission to make spiritual guidance, community, and personal development accessible to all, regardless of background or financial means.

Supporters are invited to participate through small monthly contributions, helping sustain programming, outreach, and services that provide real-world support alongside spiritual growth.
