Corey Lucky Lee, popularly known as “The Naughty Northern” started writing music as a teenager in the late ’90s. After MCing and DJing in big shot weddings for over 6 years, he finally decided to follow his passion for music on a professional scale and started producing music in Country, Rock, and Hip Hop genre. He started making music along with a few like-minded individuals, in the basement garage of his office, by turning it into a small studio space. Naughty recorded his first single “Drink a Little Smoke a lot” in the same studio and that’s when his journey officially began in the music industry.
In this exclusive interview, The Naughty Northern shares his musical journey so far, upcoming projects and more.
Interviewer: What inspires you to create music?
The Naughty Northern: I have been inspired by ’60s ’70s 80’s rock n roll and heavy metal. As well as outlaw country and 90’s hip hop and rap. Kid Rock is one of my favorite artists. My kids and wife also inspire me to make music.
Interviewer: What kind of music you create?
The Naughty Northern: Family-friendly classic custom made music and also outdoor adult fun music that shows your naughty side. Country Rock and hip hop is my favored mix with a touch of blues classic Americana also. I prefer music that is mixed with multiple genres
Interviewer: How do you juggle between managing a household business and making music?
The Naughty Northern: I plan on using my business to fuel my passion as a career change and making music is my family’s legacy with an entrepreneurial touch. I will make music a thing that every race, every culture and everyone around the world can enjoy. I plan on bringing the love of real acoustic sounds back into music.
Interviewer: Tell us about your debut EP released on March 13th.
The Naughty Northern: It is a mix of emotions for everyone to enjoy. Every song is a different feeling almost everyone can relate with and enjoy.
Interviewer: What are your dreams and goals as a music artist?
The Naughty Northern: To make my day to day living building my small family business into a reality where I am making music for a living. I want to help those in need of a second chance at alife or those in need of a good laugh or smile.
To help those who are depressed or down in life and help bring them back up.
