Omaha – May 16th, 2016 – Entrepreneur & tech educator Shonna Dorsey has been recently honored with prestigious National Women in Technology award by Information Week this month. Dorsey is the co-founder & Managing Director of Interface Web School in Omaha, Nebraska and looks forward to address the diversity issues around the Midwest and beyond. Such an elite recognition for Dorsey is not only a matter of pride for her code school but will also inspire more African-American women to foray into the tech scene who are still a minority here.

The event was hosted at the esteemed Information Week Elite 100 conference, Las Vegas. Other finalists vying for the award with Dorsey were Salesforce VP of Engineering for Enterprise Search and CIO of Colorado Governor’s IT Office.

Widely regarded as one of the most driven, smartest yet most humble tech pros among her peers, Shonna has gathered great admiration and kudos for her efforts in enhancing numbers of technology professionals in Omaha – as well as for bridging the contemporary digital divide through getting tech education to the underserved populace here.

“I don’t know if there is anybody else other than Shonna who is doing as much to ensure easy access to tech in Omaha and addressing the diversity issue with it. I feel myself fortunate to have Shonna as my friend & peer,” stated Flywheel CEO & Co-founder Dusty Davidson.

“I feel honored to be acknowledged with such a prestigious award which strongly speaks of the rising importance of tech training across the Silicon Prairie. I am humbled by such esteemed nominations & great support,” smiled the leading tech educator after receiving the award.

She holds a Master’s degree in Management Information Systems from University of Nebraska-Omaha and has earned Project Management Professional & Project Management Institute – Agile Certified Practitioner certifications from Project Management Institute.
