Improv Comes to the GTA as Just Go With It Improv Expands Classes in Markham and King City

Markham, King City, GTA, Canada – Just Go With It Improv, operating under Improv. To, is expanding access to live improv comedy workshops and courses throughout the Greater Toronto Area. With locations in Markham and King City, the company invites new and experienced improvisers to learn, play, and connect without the need to travel into downtown Toronto. The program is led by experienced improv instructors David James and Jesse Breslin, who partner to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants.

For many, improv has traditionally been associated with Toronto’s downtown performance venues. Improv. To is changing that by bringing quality improv instruction directly into suburban and community-centered spaces, making the art form more accessible to local residents.

“Improv is for everyone. It’s about listening, supporting others, and discovering what you can create together,” said David James, co-instructor at Just Go With It Improv. “We’re building a space where people can grow, laugh, and feel comfortable taking creative risks.”

“By offering classes closer to home, we’re opening the door for more people to experience the joy and confidence that improv brings,” added Jesse Breslin, co-instructor and community facilitator.

Courses and Workshops Now Enrolling

Improv. To offers a range of training opportunities:

  • Beginner Improv Course: A welcoming introduction for those new to improv or looking to build confidence in communication and creativity.

  • Advanced Improv Course: For students ready to deepen character development, scene craft, and performance technique.

  • Weekly Drop-In Sessions: A flexible and fun option for anyone who wants to try improv, meet new people, or practice in a low-pressure environment.

Classes currently run weekly at the Trisan Community Centre in Schomberg and additional Markham-area venues. All classes emphasize collaboration, creativity, and positivity—no prior experience required.

The Benefits of Improv

While improv is known for comedy and entertainment, its benefits extend far beyond the stage. Participants often report:

  • Greater self-confidence in social and professional environments

  • Enhanced listening and communication skills

  • Reduced stress and more daily playfulness

  • Stronger ability to think quickly and adapt

“Improv isn’t about being funny—it’s about being present,” said Breslin. “The humor comes naturally when people feel supported.”
