For decades, the market for GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) training followed a predictable pattern. Established institutions delivered classroom sessions, supplemented by static online courses. Certifications were issued, boxes were checked—and yet, inside engineering teams, a familiar frustration persisted.
Engineers understood the theory. But many struggled with application.

“Engineers trust what works,” says Holloway. “If a course helps them solve real problems, they recommend it. That kind of credibility compounds quickly.”
Several organizations interviewed for this article indicated that their adoption of Excedify began at the individual level before scaling to team-wide deployment.
A Shift in Expectations
Excedify’s rise may signal a broader change in how companies evaluate technical training.
“The benchmark has moved,” says Vogel. “It’s no longer enough for training to be ‘informative.’ It has to be usable.”
Whether established providers can adapt to this shift remains an open question. What is clear, however, is that the definition of “effective GD&T training” is being rewritten.
