About Holly Perry

Holly Perry is the daughter of Edward Dowdy and Doreen Perry. The eldest sister of Donnell Perry and Sadikh Perry. She is the granddaughter of Ethel Dowdy and Mary Perry, She is the mother of Aaron Perry-Williams. She grew up with cousins who were also her best friends. Holly started writing at a very young age. Her love of reading and reciting original poetry became a therapeutic intervention to heal wounds during troubling times. Her poetry became an outlet to feelings she couldn’t share.

Holly through the strong encouragement of her grandmother attended the St. James’s Baptist Church where she was baptized at the age of 12. St. James’s has played a huge role in building confidence to share her work as she has often been invited to do readings at special services. Holly Perry is a licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her Social Work degree at Rhode Island College. As a Social Worker she has had an opportunity to work in the community, the hospital system and the prison systems. Her passion for advocacy has fueled her fire for this work. Holly is also living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. This diagnosis has been the motivator to complete this book.
