Hangzhou makes 5-year plan for railway construction

Hangzhou in East China’s Zhejiang province plans to finish the construction of four railways and one railway station during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), local media reported.

Huzhou-Hangzhou railway

Spanning 137.6 kilometers, the Huzhou-Hangzhou railway connects Huzhou to Tonglu, a county-level city in Hangzhou, and has a designed speed of 350 km per hour.

The construction of the railway commenced in 2019 and is expected to be completed before the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, which is set to take place in Hangzhou from Sept 10 to 25, 2022.

Jiande-Quzhou railway

Spanning 131 km, the Jiande-Quzhou railway has a designed speed of 350 km/h and is expected to be completed in 2023.

Second phase of Hangzhou-Wenzhou railway

The second phase of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou railway starts from Tonglu and ends in Yiwu. The project, which will be completed in 2024, has a total length of 59 km and a designed speed of 350 km/h.

The opening of this railway will reduce the journey between the two cities to about 70 minutes.

Jinhua-Jiande railway

Spanning 65 km, the Jinhua-Jiande railway has a designed speed of 250 km/h and connects four railways. It is expected to be completed in 2024.

Hangzhouxi Railway Station

The Hangzhouxi Railway Station is expected to accommodate 20 railways, including five high-speed railways. In addition, subways, buses, coaches, online ride-hailing services, taxis will also be available at the railway station.

Construction of the railway station started in 2019 and is scheduled for completion before the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
