Van Wagenen is now moving to Citi Field and is GM of New York Mets. Brodie Van Wagenen, co-head of Creative Artists Agency’s baseball division, established his prominence in the sports management industry, following the execution of the some of the most significant contracts in sports history: Robinson Cano’s ten years $260 million deal and Ryan Zimmerman’s six years $100 million deal. Ryan, Van Wagenen worked together for many years to structure that deal.  Van Wagenen also represents former NFL player Tim Tebow who is currently playing in the minor leagues.

Brodie Van Wagenen of Los Angeles was Ryan’s agent. And now Van Wagenen makes the move from Los Angeles to Citi Field to be the next GM of the New York Mets. Brodie Van Wagenen of Los Angeles, California, has been named the next New York Mets General Manager. When discussing the latest deals, Ken stated that Van Wagenen has been a high profile MLB agent representing the likes of Ryan Zimmerman, Tim Tebow, Robinson Cano, and many others. 

The change in careers will be substantial to Van Wagenen’s salary and future net worth.  Today in Baseball reported, Van Wagenen will go from making nearly $25 million a year in Los Angeles to a contract worth ~$2.5 million annually as the GM for the New York Mets at Citi Field.  This move brings a lot more notoriety to Van Wagenen.  Additionally, the move will bring a new atmosphere for he and his family as they move from Los Angeles to the concrete jungle.

The agent mentality can provide expertize and a different skill set that can be quite helpful. Van Wagenen beat out a lot of qualified candidates for the GM job with the New York Mets. Van Wagenen has now officially begun his general manager duties with the team the future looks bright.  His press conference last week showed a dedication to success and a can-do attitude.

“I recognize I am not the path of least resistance,” Van Wagenen said at his introductory news conference at Citi Field. “But I’m confident that Mets fans will understand and believe this will be a great partnership going forward, and we can bring a championship not only now but in years to come.”
