GBRI Announces Free Online Webinar & Course On Climate Change and Healthcare. Preapproved for CE Credit for LEED, WELL & AIA HSW LU.

NEW YORK CITY, NY – December 7, 2020 – Natural calamities are commonplace in many too many countries and it is no secret that climate change is warming the air, raising sea levels and causing more severe storms and wildfires. Air pollution is the world’s single largest environmental health risk with around 7 million people dying every year from exposure to polluted air. Climate change is an issue that effects every aspect of our lives including our health and the healthcare system. Join Dr. Joan Schiller on December 9, 2020 at 12PM EST for an enlightening discussion. This FREE Webinar from GBRI is preapproved for CE Credit for one LEED and WELL General Hour and one AIA HSW LU.

The class will analyze the impact of climate change on human health, recognize the positive response to fight climate change and learn what actions can be taken to mitigate the health effects of Climate Change. It addresses issues of natural disasters related to climate change and how healthcare as we know it will have to change unless the government steps up against climate change. This year we’ve seen record setting floods, wildfires, and more. These natural disasters are predicted to keep growing in extremity unless we, as citizens, urge our government to change. This course will give you the scientific information necessary to state your claim with honor in the face of injustice.

Dr. Joan Schiller is a medical oncologist and adjunct professor at University of Virginia. Her specialties and passions lie in the field of climate change’s effect on health. Two recent works have been published by Schiller that address the topic in detail. The Journal of Clinical Oncology – Oncology Practice and Lung Cancer News, a publication of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer has posted two articles of Schillers that discuss the topic. She is a hub of knowledge and insight and we are excited to have her lead this course.

A reviewer of a previous course, hosted by Dr. Schiller raved that they “were impressed by the depth of her knowledge on the subject and her passion about the impact of climate change on health.” They elaborated with their review, stating that “this is a much-needed conversation among building professionals too.” Viewers from all walks of life and career paths are encouraged to watch this course, as climate change is a topic that affects all of us and it is our job to stop it.
