From Lab to Market: Hyasen’s Tour of the Full Tomato Industry Chain

In our previous article, we introduced how LAMP (Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification) technology delivers rapid virus detection without complex instruments for Spain’s tomato industry. On this occasion, the Hyasen team and our partners conducted an in-depth tour across the full tomato industry chain, visiting university research institutes, seedling breeding bases, and large-scale tomato growing and trading enterprises to learn about the real needs of practitioners at every stage.

1. Collaborating with Academic Research: Connecting Cutting-edge Science to Industrial Use

We first visited local universities and held discussions with professors on how plant genetics and physiology shape tomato root, leaf, plant architecture, fruit development and varietal diversity. During the exchange, we presented Hyasen’s full range of detection platform solutions on-site and held preliminary talks on future cooperation, helping turn advanced research results into practical industrial solutions more quickly.

2. Visiting Seedling Breeding Bases: Controlling Viruses at the Source

Seedling breeding is a critical step for virus disease prevention in tomato cultivation. Virus-infected seedlings, once transplanted, can easily cause widespread infection in greenhouses and lead to production losses. When visiting a local seedling enterprise, we reviewed its quality control procedures in detail, listened to its detection requirements and operational challenges, and provided customized solutions based on actual conditions. We always prioritize customer needs.

3. Supporting Tomato Growers and Traders: Safeguarding Market-ready Quality

The final stop of our tour was a large tomato trading enterprise. Through on-site research, we recognized the economic value of the tomato industry and the sector’s real demand for efficient pathogen detection. Together with our local partners, we demonstrated and explained how LAMP technology can be applied on-site in tomato growing. With simple operation, no complex equipment and fast results, this technology helps growers identify and remove diseased plants early, and supports batch quality screening of tomatoes, supporting stable production and stronger industrial competitiveness.

The true value of technology is not found in laboratory parameters, but in solving real problems for frontline industry users. Hyasen remains customer-centric, delivering tailored virus detection solutions for every stage of Spain’s tomato industry — from research and seedling breeding to growing and trading. Going forward, we will apply the frontline feedback from this tour, deepen cooperation with our partners, and help local growers protect crop health and reduce losses with efficient, reliable detection. We will provide technical support to strengthen the tomato industry in Spain.
