BROOKLYN, NY – OCTOBER 14, 2026 – Friday, the small business payroll software company, today announced an expanded integrations program that connects payroll to the rest of a small business’s operations. Friday customers can now sync completed payrolls to QuickBooks Online, quote and buy business insurance through Coverdash, report workers’ comp wages to SmartPay for pay-as-you-go premiums, and offer a Human Interest 401(k) with contributions sent from each payroll run. For developers, Friday offers a self-serve Partner API, webhooks, and an MCP server that gives AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor direct access to Friday’s API documentation.
The full directory is live at fridayapp.com/integrations.
“Most small business owners don’t want another system. They want payroll to stop being the place where they re-enter the same numbers. Every integration we’ve added does one job: take the payroll data you already have and send it where it needs to go — your books, your insurance carrier, your 401(k) provider, or your own software,” said Hershy Goldstein, founder and CEO of Friday.
Payroll integrations for small businesses
-
QuickBooks Online payroll integration: Each completed payroll syncs to QuickBooks Online as a journal entry, with wages, employer taxes, deductions, and contributions mapped to the company’s chart of accounts. QuickBooks Desktop users can export payroll from Friday and import it.
-
Business insurance through payroll (Coverdash): From the Insurance page in the Friday admin portal, business owners can compare quotes across 30+ carriers, buy a policy, download a certificate of insurance, or connect a policy they already have. Pay-as-you-go workers’ comp is available once payroll has run.
-
Pay-as-you-go workers’ comp wage reporting (SmartPay): Businesses with an existing workers’ comp policy can have Friday report payroll wage data to SmartPay, so premiums are calculated on real wages each pay period instead of an annual estimate. Friday publishes setup guides for more than 60 carrier programs.
-
401(k) payroll integration (Human Interest): Employee deferrals and employer match are calculated and sent with every payroll run, with no census-file uploads or manual reconciliation.
-
Time tracking and job costing: Friday’s tablet kiosk and mobile clock-in feed hours straight into payroll, with geofencing and IP restrictions. Hours can be tagged to customers and projects for job costing.
A payroll API and MCP server built for developers and AI tools
Friday’s Partner API is a self-serve REST API covering employees, time records, customers and projects, PTO, departments, payrolls, and payroll reports. Developers generate a key in the developer portal, build against a sandbox, and move to production without waiting for a manual approval. Webhooks let integrations subscribe to events instead of polling.
The Friday MCP server uses the open Model Context Protocol to connect AI coding assistants to Friday’s API documentation. Once a developer adds the server to Claude Code, Cursor, or another tool that supports JSON MCP configuration, the assistant can look up endpoint behavior, explain request and response shapes, and help debug API calls using Friday’s own docs rather than guessing from memory. Sandbox and production keys are kept separate.
“The MCP server means that any person using a good AI tool can now do anything without the need to ever log in. Making it simpler than ever to run Payroll and manage a team,” said Pincus Schiff, Head of Growth at Friday.
For accountants and software partners
Accountants and bookkeepers get a free accountant portal to review payrolls, pull reports, and manage multiple client companies from one login. Friday also runs an affiliate and referral program, and software companies serving small businesses can build Friday payroll into their own products with the Partner API and webhooks. No-code connections through Zapier and Make are in development, with a waitlist open on the integrations page.
Faster payroll onboarding
The integrations program follows Friday’s AI-driven onboarding, released in October 2026, which Friday built so a small business owner can sign up, onboard, and process payroll without a multi-day implementation.
Availability
The QuickBooks, Coverdash, SmartPay, Partner API, webhooks, and MCP server integrations are available now. Setup guides and API documentation are at fridayapp.com/integrations and fridayapp.com/docs.
