The multidisciplinary artist Ted Barr is publishing a book of art works and essays created using his unique FLY technique.

FLY is a painting technique that transforms lives. The artist Ted Barr developed the technique as part of his own personal quest for meaning, which has taken him around the globe, brought him into contact with shamans, rabbis and monks and set him on the path towards becoming an internationally acclaimed artist.

Barr’s best-known series of paintings have been created using the FLY painting technique: the Deep Space series, the Cycle of Life series and the Human Forming series. The technique consists of mixing layers of cold tar with oil colors, acrylic, and lacquer. As the elements are moved around the canvas repelling each other, they create fabulous patterns on the canvas.

Yet FLY is much more than a simple painting technique. It is the expression of a complete worldview of welcoming the unexpected with a smile. The method itself has been transmitted in workshops around the world, where people learn to express themselves freely and give voice to their subconscious imagination using the FLY technique.

Barr’s artworks give voice to his own creative core through FLY, following his personal journey towards deciphering the hidden meaning behind birth, death and our place within the Universe.
