FOLCS International Short Film Competition Opens Entries for its 9th Annual Awards Night Scheduled in March 2022.

FOLCS International Short Film Competition is back and the entries for the same are open now. The 9th Annual Awards Night will be held in March/April 2022, and the entries will be accepted until 1st October 2021.

Forum on Life, Culture & Society (FOLCS) International Short Film Competition accepts entries of short films on the theme of ‘social justice and human rights; as a part of the FOLCS Film Series, and all emerging and independent filmmakers around the world are heartily invited to submit their entries and get a chance to screen their work in the New York Film Academy in New York City on the 9th Annual Awards Night.

FOLCS aims at initiating public conversations regarding justice and popular culture among young and upcoming filmmakers.

“‘Social justice’ may be broadly construed. You are free to choose any subject in which the relationship between law, justice, and society can be fashioned into a unique visual story. For example, your film could be about rights that have been denied, harms that have gone unaddressed, the aftereffects of courtroom decisions, government regulations, and statutes, or an attempt to take a new look at what “justice” really means. Any genre (animation, comedy, documentary, drama, musical, sci-fi, etc.) is permitted.’ Quotes the official website of FOLCS.

The short film should be of a maximum of 20 minutes or less and there is no minimum runtime requirement. The Winner of Best Short Award will also receive a courtesy award from the New York Film Academy (TBA). The Annual Awards Night will have several other awards categories too, like Best Screenplay, Best Female Filmmaker, Best Young Filmmaker (18 years and younger), & Audience Favorite Award, etc.

The FOLCS International Short Film Competition was created in 2011 to encourage the creation of short films exploring themes of law and justice as part of its FOLCS Film Series. Each year the Film Series features renowned filmmakers, actors, writers, journalists, public intellectuals, and members of the legal profession. The Film Series also attracts overflowing and diverse crowds of film enthusiasts, which provides a great platform for showcasing your winning work.

FOLCS International Short Film Competition is a great platform for up-and-coming filmmakers to showcase their talent to the most noted personalities in the business. And the fact that the Awards Night takes place at the New York Film Academy, just adds a cherry on the cake.
