FIVE 2018 CAREER THROUGH CULINARY ARTS SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS


The Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) is a national non-profit that educates and guides underserved high school students toward a bright future. It prepares students for the workplace through chef mentoring, job shadowing, work experience, and job skills. Additionally, students receive college and career advising. Through a holistic approach to culinary training, students compete for college scholarships.

The following students form Ironwood Ridge High School won college scholarships at the 2018 C-CAP cooking competition:

  • Nick Perricone

  • Mario Solorzano

  • Jessica Lopez

  • Cody Hedrick

  • Valentina Galaz


Nick Perricone won a $17,900 scholarship to the International Culinary College in New York, New York. Mario Solorzano won a $4,000 scholarship to a school of his choice, as well as a position with the Omni Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. Jessica Lopez placed second and received $3,000 to a school of her choice. Cody Hedrick won the James Beard Scholarship Award of $3,700, and a position with the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. Valentina Galaz won $2,500 to a school of her choice, and an internship at FnB Restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The program impacts over 17,500 students a year, and has also awarded over $56 million in scholarships since its inception. Countless alumni work throughout the country and are guiding the future leaders of the culinary and hospitality industry.
