FINE ART MEETS STREET ART – ‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ EXPLORES + HONORS MIAMI’S STREET ART AND MURALS

“A MIAMI LOVE STORY // TRICAOST ENTERTAINMENT”
Often described as the modern day West Side Story meets “Romeo and Juliet” – two culturally different teenagers in Miami find a way for true love to conquer all through the universal message of art. ‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ to screen in New York and other major U.S. cities.

Los Angeles, CA – March 10, 2018 – TriCoast Entertainment and Florida Film House presents A BLAG & MARCO MALL Film – ‘MIAMI LOVE STORY’ – a tough and gritty, yet romantic street-art film, to screen in New York and other major U.S. city screens.

Directed by Blademil Grullon (‘Love and Reality’, ‘Fade Away’), ‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ is an urban, “Romeo-and-Juliet” street-romance featuring the “Romeo” – the bad-boy yet greatly artistic Dominican teen Sandy (Miguel “Fuego” Duran) – and the “Juliet” – smart, Haitian good-girl Flo (Lexi Delarosa) – who are forced to pick between their romantic aspirations and their ethnic loyalties.

‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ is the first-ever film to be released as a national theatrical with the collaboration of Haitians and Dominican – revolutionary and inspiring due to the two culture’s ongoing long-lived conflict from the Caribbean Sea, significantly impacting Miami’s urban, art street culture and its inhabitants.

Produced by Marco Mall, ‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ is inspired by his childhood experiences growing up in Miami, observing and experiencing the Dominican and Haitian culture conflict. Embodying the stereotypical urban-crime conflict with Flo’s older brother, Haitian “top dog” Patrick (Paul Antoine), who roughs-it-out with Sandy’s Dominican uncle, Felipe (Mitch Lemos), for control over Miami’s street drug markets and over their long-lived cultural conflict.

Loosely inspired by “Romeo + Juliet”, Sandy and Flo find themselves facing the barriers of their ethnic loyalties but find one escape – through their passion and love for art. Sandy takes Flo to his sacred space, his studio, revealing his true passion for art. Sandy’s artwork – a beautifully painted rose that hasn’t blossomed yet – expresses his feelings for Flo, afraid to say out loud.

Describing his unique artistic style as “fine art meets street art”, Flo encourages Sandy to pursue his dreams as ‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ often shows the couple hand-in-hand, walking through Miami’s art district, the Wynwood Art District, admiring the colorful murals and graffiti street-art. With art’s ability to unite the couple, creating their bond and love to become stronger, Sandy finds the strength to be vulnerable with Flo by sharing fond memories of his father taking him to art galleries as a child, and how ultimately it was his father and Miami’s art that truly inspired Sandy.

In recent years, Miami has become a go-to destination for art lovers for hosting the annual contemporary art fair ‘Art Basel Miami’ and is recognized for its street art and murals, especially those found in the Wynwood Art District.

The Wynwood Art District was once a run-down warehouse district from the mid-to-late 1990s, home to Miami’s Garment District and a top location for Caribbean immigrants. Since, the area has transformed into a hub of innovative and eclectic restaurants, bars, trendy shops, and art installations, containing 70 galleries, 12 art studios, seven art complexes, five art fairs, five museums, three collections and the most famous, the “Wynwood Walls” – the largest collection of street art murals in the world.

‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ is a story is about forgiving the past and moving into the future. Even though you see a little bit of violence – that’s reality – at the end of the day we make sure that we have a positive message, said Mall.

The original screenplay of ‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ was written by four-time winner (including MTV Music Video Awards, BET Awards) and eight-time nominated (including Grammy Awards, Golden Globes), Actor and Composer/Soundtrack, Wyclef Jean, world-known for soundtracks on ‘Hotel Rwanda’ (2004), ‘The Manchurian Candidate’ (2004), and James Bond film ‘Quantum of Solace’ (2008).
