Fathom Ventures LLC has announced that The Sacajawea is on its way to Alaska for nature charters for the very first time. The Sacajawea is a beautiful, 125-foot yacht built-in 1936 built for the Army Corp of Engineers. Brian & Jess of Fathom Ventures LLC acquired it in 2018, and after series of upgrades, the historical masterpiece is setting sail to hit the shores of Alaska this summer and potentially in fall.
Thrilled to share The Sacajawea for private charters, Brian & Jess had this to say, “We are proud to offer the ship for events and experiences that will bring joy, support our community and celebrate her history. This is a labor of complete love for us. We hope to share her with you.”
When The Sacajawea completes the nature charters in partnership with Dolphin Charters scheduled for this summer, Fathom Ventures LLC, will then be providing private charters to elsewhere for groups of up to 12.
Dolphin Charters have been offering guided nature photography tours in Alaska for over 30 years. They infuse their expertise on The Sacajawea to offer passengers memorable sailing and touring experiences.
Originally, the yacht’s name was Robert Gray and built near Seattle, Washington, for surveying the Alaskan ocean floor. The yacht fought in WWII and later did important resource surveys both in Alaska and in SF Bay. After acquiring it, Brian & Jess named it The Sacajawea to honor a strong and adventurous female from a time before the boat’s construction and a tie to the Northwest.
On the yacht, COVID-19 protocols are going to be observed. The Sacajawea maintains a rigorous process around cleanliness and hygiene. According to Brian & Jess, all crew members are vaccinated and diligently working to ensure that the yacht meets the latest hygiene and cleaning protocols.
