West Palm Beach, FL – Mar 3, 2020 – Farr Shepherd, President, Decypher Technologies presented The State of Cybersecurity 2020 in partnership with Jim King of Atlantic Pacific Insurance. The presentation was hosted by Digital Resource in West Palm Beach, FL.
This event was held with the intention of creating a new awareness of the very real threat of cyber attacks in small to medium businesses. This education is vital to all businesses that are using something as simple as email and as expansive as a full e-commerce business. Business owners from around the Palm Beach area were invited to attend. Farr Shepherd was one of 2 main keynote speakers at the event.
Farr’s presentation covered 2 main points on Cyber Security:
The evolution of an attack. This helped attendees understand cybercrime tactics so they can better protect themselves.
Password Best Practices. Reviewed how attendees could find out if their passwords have been compromised and the importance of adopting password security best practices.
Attendees included peers from a wide range of industries including Home Automation Specialists, Office Technology Suppliers, and Realtors. All gathered to network and learn about the current cyber-threat climate and how to protect their customers and their businesses.
With cyber-threats increasing daily and many of those targeting small businesses, these practices are vital to the safety, longevity, and profitability of businesses. The goal of Farr’s talk was to impress upon the audience to start thinking in terms of security. Cybersecurity practices are rapidly becoming one of the most important aspects of the business. Every day more and more businesses are turning to online solutions for a variety of services and tools. Understanding how a hack can happen and how to take proactive measures can mean everything to business under attack.
Farr, speaking about the turnout for the event said, “Our team was very pleased with the level of engagement from the attendees, it clearly showed their interest in protecting themselves and their organizations against cyber-threats. Nearly everyone in attendance commented on how they benefited from the program.” Source
