TAMPA, FLORIDA, USA – August 18, 2022 – The annual Fallen Hero 5K and 10K will be on September 10, 2022 will be the first race in the Tampa Bay Area to award NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) to race participants and winners.
“If you have ever run a 5K, you probably have gotten a t-shirt and medal, but we wanted to offer something that you literally can’t get anywhere else in the world. That is where NFTs come in,” Aaron Bazin, President of the VetCoin Foundation 501c3 stated.
NFTs are cryptographic assets on a blockchain, but unlike cryptocurrencies, they cannot be traded or exchanged at equivalency, each is unique.New research predicts that the existing $3 billion market size of the blockchain, Web3, and the Metaversewill reach $13.6 billion by the end of 2027.For the next five years, the key factors tied to the global NFT boom continue to factor in the growing involvement of influencers, gaming communities and the rising demand for digital artworks.
Toni Hedstrom, President of the Tampa VA Network and lead organizer of the run said, “the Fallen Hero 5K and 10K events are great ways for local community members to honor America’s fallen heroes and show their support. We wanted each NFT to come with unlockable content that will allow vets and those that support vets to get access to special events and discounts.”
The event track will be lined with remembrance signs on the day of the event to bring awareness to issues facing military communities. In addition, proceeds from the event will be used to directly support veterans and their families in the Tampa Bay Area.To learn more about the Fallen Hero 5K and 10K, please click here and consider registering or becoming a sponsor or vendor at this year’s event.
