eMedCert to Provide Meals During COVID-19 Outbreak

eMedCert, one of the leading providers of online BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification is proud to announce a donation partnership with the organization Feeding America. In response to the unprecedented fallout caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, eMedCert plans to donate 25 meals to Feeding America for every course that is purchased through their website.

Feeding America currently has 200 foodbanks, along with 60,000 food pantries located across the nation. The organization has served about 1 in 7 Americans, which equates to nearly 50 million people. Wilson Rapp, a co-founder of eMedCert stated the drive is “focusing on helping children who have lost a stable source of food due to school closures.” Currently, 30 million children participate in the national school lunch program and many of these children are uniquely exposed to the effects of the recent outbreak.

The COVID-19 outbreak has had far-reaching effects, creating tremendous economic uncertainty and leaving many people suddenly out-of-work. While there have been some legislative efforts to combat these effects, many of these efforts have been slow-moving. The team at eMedCert, who has a broader mission to help those in need by servicing medical professionals, recognized that organizations such as Feed America can have a profound impact on the communities they help.

“We have been endlessly inspired by the nurses, doctors, first responders, and other healthcare professionals who are working tirelessly to help us fight against the COVID-19 outbreak,” said Rapp, who later clarified “This campaign is our attempt to extend their efforts by helping others outside hospitals and ensuring all people have access to the care they need.”

eMedCert has also observed that, due to the sudden demand for more nurses and medical professionals across the United States, there are now many more people looking to renew essential certifications online. Before any nurse or former nurse can begin working, they will need to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Depending on their specialization, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may also be necessary.

In the rush for more nurses, it is clear that many people will need to renew their certifications within a matter of days, not weeks or even months. Ultimately, online certification platforms make it easy to quickly take a certification course, pass the exam, and get back to work, all while adhering to federal social distancing guidelines. In fact, individuals who complete these courses will immediately have a digital certificate of completion, along with a tangible card that will be delivered by mail a few days later.

Ultimately, the company claims, the partnership between eMedCert and Feeding America will mutually benefit the broader community. In addition to more Americans having access to the food they need, a growing number of nurses and medical professionals will be able to quickly begin providing help.
