In January, Raul Rico Gonzalez, the General Director of the Cultural Institute of Mazatlán announced that during the spring season, which runs from March 1- July 14, there will be 83 shows with close to 2,000 performers and artists from Mexico and from around the globe.

The Mazatlán Jazz Fest Chilo is the first large event that takes place during the spring season. Running from March 8-16, the Mazatlán Jazz Fest Chilo offers great opportunity for music lovers to watch live performances and partake in educational sessions to enhance and extend their knowledge of the jazz genre. The Mazatlan Jazz Fest Chilo will commence on March 8th with a performance by the Pablo Prieto Quartet who will be paying tribute to the Jazz legend, Dave Brubeck.

From March 25-April 2, Mazatlán will be celebrating Semana Santa (Holy Week). Beginning on the Sunday before Easter and ending on Easter Sunday, Semana Santa is one of the most important holidays not only for Mazatlán, but for the entire country of Mexico. Although Semana Santa primarily revolves around celebration within the Catholic faith, people of all religions can enjoy the festivities of Semana Santa.
