EDsmart.org, a leading provider of college rankings and resources, has released its inaugural “Triple A+ Colleges” list, recognizing 23 institutions that demonstrate exceptional, well-rounded performance in higher education. The exclusive ranking identifies colleges that achieve an A+ grade in at least one of four core categories—Career Outcomes, Completion Rates, Support Services, or Cost Effectiveness—while maintaining A or A- grades in at least two others.
This rigorous methodology, which goes beyond single-dimensional excellence, highlights schools that offer both a specialized strength and a comprehensive, high-quality educational experience. Of the 2,159 colleges evaluated nationwide, only 1.1% earned the prestigious Triple A+ distinction.
“Our Triple A+ ranking is designed to help students and families identify institutions that deliver a truly balanced and valuable education,” said Tyson Stevens, Managing Editor at EDsmart.org. “These are not just schools with one area of strength; they are institutions that consistently excel across key metrics that matter most to students, from job placement and affordability to graduation and retention rates.”
Key Findings from the Report:
Top Performers: Stanford University leads the list with a perfect 100.0 score, earning A+ grades in both Career and Outcome categories. Other top-ranked schools include Harvard, Columbia, MIT, and Johns Hopkins.
Exceptional Outcomes: Graduates from Triple A+ colleges earn an average median salary of $87,000, with MIT alumni topping the list at $131,633. The institutions also boast an impressive 95% average graduation rate and a 97% retention rate.
Diversity in Excellence: The list includes both public and private institutions, with the University of Florida standing out for its exceptional value with a net price of just $6,351. The United States Merchant Marine Academy achieved the highest employment rate at 90.2% and an affordable net price.
Geographic Concentration: Excellence is geographically distributed, with California leading with four Triple A+ colleges, followed by Massachusetts and Pennsylvania with three each.
