Fort Lauderdale, Florida – June 28, 2021 – EDCO Awards Scholarship has chosen a winner for the academic year 2020-2021. After a year of accepting submissions and reviewing entries, the deserving student to receive the $1,000 financial grant is Jesse Delgado from the University of Houston in Texas.

Achievement is a wonderful source of motivation and inspiration. When people have the desire to achieve things, they are able to weather all obstacles that come their way. EDCO Awards believe that such desire should be recognized, and it is one of their core values to create lasting remembrances of one’s achievement.

EDCO Awards also believe in recognizing all student’s desire to pursue educational achievements. However, some individuals may be hindered by financial difficulties as they try to pursue this dream. Between other priorities and obligations to loved ones, their educational goals can be set aside as a sacrifice for others. To help in such a predicament, the Florida-based awarding company started the EDCO Awards Scholarship to annually provide financial assistance to deserving college students.

The recent winner of the scholarship program is Jesse Delgado, an incoming Masters of Accountancy student at the University of Houston. In Jesse’s entry essay with the prompt: “How do you think employers should recognize remote working employees in the “new normal” era?”, the student talked about the importance of recognizing remote employers by understanding the modern need for flexibility in work environments and situations.

“I think employers who have to shift to remote work need to acknowledge that their employees need time to adjust, particularly new hires,” Jesse mentioned.

“People are discovering that there is more flexibility with remote work and employers must be open-minded and flexible. As time goes on employees will adjust to working from home. People are now able to work at times where they are more productive and not succumb to the routine of a nine-to-five job,” the student added.

Jesse also talked about the importance of employers focusing on the quality of work, and not just the number of hours an employee should put in. The student winner believes that productivity lies not just on hours worked, but also through the employee’s flexible routines that will make them exert quality output at their own schedule.

“Employers need to be willing to accept this change. If employees are turning in quality work on time and communication is not a problem, they should be allowed to continue to work in this manner,” the student concluded.

Jesse’s answer deeply captured the heart of true recognition – empathy, acceptance, and openness to a positive change, which EDCO Awards also believes is important to the ever-changing modern world.
