Driven Visionary Dominick Martini Brings Sassy New Comedy CHARLIE BOY To The Screen

“Security and real-estate expert Dominick Martini fulfills his creative side turning his winning business sense to acting in and executive producing the upcoming comedy of the heart movie CHARLIE BOY.”
Executive producer Dominick Martini is odds-on to serve up a hit with his new heartfelt comedy movie CHARLIE BOY, a delightfully nostalgic film that is at the same time edgy in that it makes the bold premise that nobody is lost if they decide they are not. Martini has had a gift in business for picking winners.

Great real-estate investors share some of the same winning qualities as movie producers: passion, bravery, tenacity, discipline, inventiveness. So when Dominick Martini’s creativity sought an outlet, he assembled the perfect storm to create CHARLIE BOY; a new delightfully nostalgic comedy that is simultaneously edgy, in that it makes the bold premise that nobody is lost if they decide they are not. Martini has acquired a gift in business for picking winners.

Dominick spent most of his professional life leading high-end security teams for companies such as Bed, Bath and Beyond before he moved into real estate and discovered a Midas touch. Creative yearnings drove Martini to invest in indie films with good potential but left him unfulfilled simply handling a business end. Dominick wanted a creative hand. At this time Martini discovered beloved Astoria comedy star Greg Kritikos who had the premise for CHARLIE BOY, a criminal turned good who makes his living as a stand-up comic.

Many things about the story CHARLIE BOY warmed Martini to the idea, so together they hired a writer who Kritikos co-wrote the screenplay with and CHARLIE BOY was put into motion. The final piece of the puzzle came together for Martini when a Hollywood star Martini had hired to direct CHARLIE BOY had to exit the production for personal reasons and director Timothy Hines (10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE – THE NELLIE BLY STORY, WAR OF THE WORLDS THE TRUE STORY) stepped in. The resulting collaborative forces became magic.

“This was my first hands-on movie that I produced,” smiles Dominick Martini, “On other films I’ve financed like THE BRAWLER, I was a money guy. On CHARLIE BOY I was a full-on line producer as well, alongside producer Susan Goforth. Greg Kritikos brought his years of comedy club booking and performance experience to round out the production team.”

Director Timothy Hines says of Martini, “When I took over CHARLIE BOY, with Dominick, there was a bit of a deer-in-the-headlights factor at first. He’s a sound businessman but his experience of working in the flesh and fantasy of Hollywood, jumping from how should a struggle in a kitchen over a handgun be staged, to the cost of lumber for construction of sets, it was eye opening for him, but he rapidly adapted and was seasoned in a remarkably brief amount of time.”

“CHARLIE BOY was my learning curve,” adds Martini, “I’m just grateful to Timothy, Susan, Greg and all those who helped make CHARLIE BOY possible, that it has turned out to be a really good movie. As producers it’s what we hope to possess; what we dream about. And we have it.”

Susan Goforth admires Dominick’s odds-on ability to pick winners. “But he’s unique,” she adds, “he won’t take screenplays or projects from others. He has to research and discover material himself. Partly from his days as a security professional, Dominick is a shrewd businessman and hard to get close to. But those of us lucky enough to be within Dominick’s inner circle know he’s a kindhearted family man and a loyal, intelligent producer.”

CHARLIE BOY is a comedy movie about how some bad guys become good guys. It follows the story of straight and sober recovering mobster Charlie Borakos (Greg Kritikos). Charlie now works as a stand-up comedian and, after many years of recovery and giving back to his beloved community of Astoria, Queens New York, he is still burdened by the guilt of his son’s death and friend Shake’s (Dave Morrissey Jr.) maiming due to his drinking, drugging and negligence of the past. So when good friend Tommy G’s gambling problem surfaces to the extreme and Charlie’s prior mob boss Big Angie moves back into town, Charlie’s benevolent attitude and knack for doing all he can to help others, turns misfortune into laughter and saves the day.

CHARLIE BOY, a comedy of the heart, is directed by Timothy Hines (10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE – THE NELLIE BLY STORY, WAR OF THE WORLDS THE TRUE STORY) and stars Greg Kritikos as the title character with Kelly Le Brock (WEIRD SCIENCE, WOMAN IN RED) as Donna and Burt Young (ROCKY, CHINATOWN, ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA) as Luca. CHARLIE BOY is produced by Susan Goforth and Greg Kritikos, who also co-wrote the screenplay, and Dominick Martini is Executive Producer. Dominick Martini has partnered with the movie’s star, producer and co-writer Greg Kritkos, director Timothy Hines and producer Susan Goforth to produced the film under his Old School Media Entertainment company. Martini also portrays the role of psychopathic mob boss Big Angie in the picture.

“I had free reign when it came to casting,” reflects director Timothy Hines, “Dominick Martini was perfect in the role of Big Angie, the mob boss. He delivered a chilling portrayal of a man driven by power and greed, but also manages to pull off counter points of hysterical comic moments.”

Wells fans, which also completed for the Oscars in the 85th Academy Awards including Best Original Score, Screenplay and Visual Effects.
