David Crane To Accept The Walter Day Lifetime Achievement Award At Class of 2017 International Video Game Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

It will be an event for the books: Mr. David Crane, a video game designer, programmer, and gaming industry pioneer, will accept the Walter Day Lifetime Achievement Award at the Class of 2017 International Video Game Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. Other prominent figures in the gaming community that are set to attend the event are Messrs. Warren Davis, Joel West and Michael Klug, as well as Ms. Carrie Swidecki.

“We believe it is our duty to acknowledge Mr. Crane’s massive contribution to the world of gaming by honoring him with the much-deserved Walter Day Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Mr. Jerry Byrum, President, International Video Game Hall of Fame.

He continued, “Mr. Crane is an industry icon, and his inclusion into the International Video Game Hall of Fame’s Class of 2017 was a unanimous vote by the gamers, journalists and video game industry executives that selected the 2017 class of inductees. As co-founder of Activision and creator of games like Pitfall!™, Dragster™,  Freeway,  A Boy and His Blob™, and The Activision Decathalon™ are etched in the memories of all of us that grew up playing them in the 80s – and to many others who came to know them later on through their interest in console gaming. Mr. Crane’s appearance at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is not to be missed.”

The International Video Game Hall of Fame’s Class of 2017 Induction Ceremony is set to take place during the Galaxies of Gaming mini con at Ottumwa’s Old School Pinball & Arcade in Ottumwa, IA, which is known as the “Video Game Capitol of the World”. Ottumwa Old School Pinball & Arcade’s mission is to “continue the legacy of Walter Day and his Twin Galaxies International Scoreboard & Arcade while celebrating gaming achievements and players from around the world.”

In addition to the Class of 2017 International Video Game Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Ottumwa’s Old School Pinball & Arcade will host a Gamer of the Year Finals and Crowning tournament, and announce the creation of a Video Game Capital of the World Museum and Walk of Fame in the near future.
