Crystal will be adding the Clean Label Project’s Purity Award seal on all of its packaging beginning in 2020.
CRYSTAL, the creator of the original mineral salt deodorant, has been leading the natural deodorant industry for 35 years, formulating its deodorants with clean ingredients that are always free of aluminum, parabens, silicones, phthalates, and artificial fragrances and colors. Since its founding 35 years ago, CRYSTAL has been providing an effective mineral-based line, that’s vegan, and cruelty-free. The ingredients are non-toxic and the packaging’s eco-friendly.

Crystal Deodorant is celebrating a brand-new achievement.

The Louisville, Colo.-based company announced that its line of natural deodorant has received the Clean Label Project Purity Award for all of its products.

“The definition of safety and purity is evolving in the minds of consumers. Meeting minimum federal safety requirements is no longer enough. Consumers are increasingly concerned about what they purchase for themselves and provide for their families. Crystal is going above and beyond to set the pace in the deodorant category when it comes to ingredient sourcing and ingredient quality to align with consumer expectations. Their corporate commitment shows in the test results,” Jackie Bowen, the executive director for Clean Label Project said.

Clean Label Project, a nonprofit organization, focuses on bringing truth and transparency to consumer product labeling.

To achieve this level of transparency, the organization uses its Consumer Chain of Custody Sampling and Testing methodology, which simulates the shopping experience of going to local, national and online retailers to purchase the top best-selling products as any consumer would.

The only difference is that the Clean Label Project then takes products to an accredited analytical chemistry laboratory for testing, in order to determine if heavy metals, pesticide residues, plasticizers and label claim substantiation, the company said.

Products that perform in the top 33% are then eligible for its Project Purity Award.

“The Clean Label Purity Award lets shoppers know that when it comes to deodorants, we not only comply with, but surpass the strictest parameters for contaminants, chemicals and other unnecessary toxic additives. This seal shows that our deodorants have received the highest rating for product purity,” Catie Wiggy, the vice president of product development and marketing at Crystal Deodorant, said.
