Coventry’s First Smart-Tech Care Home for Patients with Dementia and Alzhemier’s

A high-tech home in Earlsdon for 32 dementia and Alzheimer’s residents is the first Alexa smart care facility in Coventry.

The Maple Group, took over the home in 2016, and has since been investing in upgrading into a ‘smart care home’ to improve the lives of its residents. The home is the second ‘smart’ facility in the groups UK portfolio.

Shaquille Pabani, managing director of the group said, the idea is to provide as much sensor technology in order to significantly reduce the risk of falls or injury to less able bodied residents. Our goal is to assist them in living as normal a life as possible in the safest way.

“We took a combination of technologies and customised them to work with our platform to create an unparalleled safe environment. What makes this facility unique is that it will use artificial intelligence (AI) and smart technology to help care for the residents and to research Alzheimer and dementia care, as well as new technologies to improve care.”

”A GPS-type system, for example, will track the residents’ whereabouts at all times, indoors and outdoors, to assist staff locate residents and find them quickly if they are missing,” he said.

The homes sensors also allow staff to quickly attend to residents whom require, overall providing a safer environment where the rapid response is always assured.

The home features 32 en-suite rooms, a hair salon, a bistro, a terrace garden, a multifunctional hall space and sensory areas.
