The STEP 1 trial, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2021, demonstrated an average body weight reduction of 14.9% over 68 weeks among participants. Brand-name versions of these medications carry list prices exceeding $1,000 per month, creating a substantial access gap for patients without adequate insurance coverage.
Cora Health’s model addresses this gap by connecting patients with licensed providers who prescribe compounded formulations prepared by 503A state-licensed pharmacies. Plans start at $120 per month and include the provider consultation, pharmacy fulfillment, and free expedited shipping. There are no hidden fees, no separate charges for the medication, and no long-term contracts.
“People are looking for legitimate, provider-guided access to these medications without paying $1,000 a month,” said a spokesperson for Cora Health. “That is what we built.”
The platform operates entirely online. Patients complete a five-minute health assessment, receive a provider evaluation within 24 hours, and if clinically appropriate, receive their medication at home. The prescribing providers are part of Wasef Health, PC, an independent medical practice that makes all treatment decisions based on individual clinical evaluation.
Cora Health is LegitScript certified and fully HIPAA compliant. The company’s pharmacy partner, VialsRx, operates in compliance with FDA guidelines and USP sterile compounding standards. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not therapeutically equivalent to FDA-approved products.
