Interview with Zoel
Great to have you. Please, introduce yourself?
My name is Zoel. I am a conscious artist. I am a songwriter, music producer, Dj, music curator. I am a former MTV VJ and content creator.
I was born in Argentina, when I finished school, I was spotted by MTV Latino executives and brought me to the US. Since then, I established myself in NY where I share my passion for music with artists around the globe.
I then move to Miami where I launched FREEDOM: an Urban Spanglish album. I was very disappointed with how the Urban genre was mostly disrespecting women in their lyrics. So In my album, I put the female energy at its core.
What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
I remember the day I show up in my parent’s rooms with a guitar telling my parents I wanted to do music and be an artist. I was so convinced! They said “That is great but today you are going to school!“ I have been creating music since I can remember. Thru my music, I found a way to express myself. My songs always share the message of positive thinking and love.
I have always felt a deep connection with music. Music always made me feel connected to a higher power. Since I can remember Music has always helped me to feel free.
My mission in life is to create music. To communicate thru music. To elevate the frequency and vibration.
Tell us about your new music (Song/EP/Mixtape/Album)? And what’s the story behind it?
My upcoming album, ELEMENTS is my dream project. This album represents all that I have been studying: Healing through Music, Elevating Vibrations, Water Cymatics, and always spreading the positive vibes.
ELEMENTS is a combination of 11 songs that have the power to heal us as we listen, experiencing the music with our whole being and not only with the ears. Combining the powerful effects of music with meditation and a deep connection to dance music. Each song has sounds, words, and vibration to stimulate and bring up different emotions. ELEMENTS is not only an album but also a unique live experience.
My latest single, “ I am LOVE “ is a modern mantra to remember that we are LOVE and to always remember the light. As this song says “I am Love, You are Love, We are love, we all connect through love”. Especially in this time we are living, people are in despair, suffering in isolation. This song is about accepting ourselves, is about transforming darkness into light, It empowers people to connect to their greatest power, the power of LOVE. The world and the human race is healing. In this song, I joined forces with Shaman Durek, a spiritual guide and gifted healer. Durek’s teachings have impacted thousands of people from all walks of life: https://shamandurek.com. Together we spread the message of LOVE.
What makes your music unique? And how would you describe it?
My music elevates consciousness. When its time to categorize it will go under World Music, Conscious Music, Downtempo, etc.
Do you play any instruments? And why do you love it?
I play piano, Guitar and lately, I am so driven by the force of Native drums and percussion. As a producer of my own music, I program most of the instruments. I am an intuitive musician.
Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
Music is always present in my life and in my house. I like to be open to listening to any kind of music because there is always so much behind each track. I can feel the culture, the message, the emotion behind the song. I like the vibe of Xavier Rudd and Mateo Kingman, Nicola Cruz. A collaboration with Madame Gandhi or any of the previous artists would be powerful. I can tell you that I like focusing on the message behind the song.
I see what kind of songs are being offered to kids nowadays and I just wish the artist will put more emphasis on spreading positive messages. We have the power to guide and thru our music we can inspire.
Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?
Collaborating with mayor music producers like Echo (Paul Irizarry), Midi Mafia and Sauce Money to name a few has been an honor and a pleasure to work with.
I won “Best Music in the film” at the CMJ Music Awards in New York for the music I composed for the documentary “Shadow Boxers”.
Singing at The Apollo in NYC was a big moment too!
How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends, or work?
Family is the most important without these values of Love and care life is soulless. Music is my passion and my Family accompany through all the process. From when the idea comes into my head when I start giving it life in the piano and I begin with the Beat. Also, it’s very fun to Listen endless together. They are my biggest fans!
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Do what you love. Make music that represents your true spirit. Take every opportunity that life gives you.
If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?
To know that there is always away. To stay true to who they are. To enjoy life. To focus on the bright side. To believe in themselves. To love themselves. To vibrate high. To take care of themselves and choose a clean path.
What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?
I have just launched a commission project for kids to detox from Digital Devices I was chosen to create the official song for this initiative. The song is called “Unplug to connect”. I am also creating the music experience for a new hotel concept that is very exciting and I am in the studio working on new singles for ELEMENTS.
