Cognitive Automation Solution ROBIN Introduces Cutting Edge Technology to Insurance Data Processing

The Dayhuff Group, maker of award-winning solutions for solving complex data management challenges, has announced the launch of ROBIN, a cognitive robotic process automation solution for the insurance industry. Based on IBM’s Watson Explorer and robotic process automation (RPA) tools, ROBIN is an efficiency boost for insurance operations in underwriting and claims processing.

Cognitive automation is transforming the insurance industry, accelerating underwriting, reducing risks and optimizing costs. Powered by a combination of cognitive processing and RPA, ROBIN is an insurance solution that automates the highest volume repetitive tasks, and enables insurers to become faster, more accurate and to better at evaluating risks as compared to traditional insurance processing, such as manual data entry, manually accessing data sources, and spending time reading and extracting information from DMV or accident reports.

The IBM cognitive engine behind ROBIN can read and understand documents just as humans do, and the RPA tools perform the automated tasks. A pre-configured dictionary inside ROBIN can read common insurance documents, along with offering a proven way to further train the cognitive engine. ROBIN has been demonstrated to reduce time to process new business or close a claim by up to 20 percent.

ROBIN offers deep natural language capability, using cognitive computing to understand the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’.   Use case scenarios of ROBIN include pre-processing steps for requesting additional information such as credit checks, using RPA to obtain prescription and medical histories from Milliman IntelliScript, updating the internal underwriting systems automatically, reading DMV records for auto insurance and using RPA tools to update Guidewire or other systems, or helping claims adjustors with faster document processing with third-party system interactions, reduced time to prepare packages, less input data requirements and straight through processing.
