CHULA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLIC SCHOOLS SHOW PROMISING FUTURE OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS

As private schools and independent charter schools continue to soar in popularity among American families, the question might be posed: Why public schools? Chula Vista Elementary School District proudly answers that question with astounding promise in providing an excellent education to every student in their 49 schools and preparing those young minds for their future. Some honors the District has earned include U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon Schools, California Exemplary District, California School Boards Association Golden Bell Winner, California Department of Education Gold Ribbon Schools, and Live Well San Diego district recognition. Staff members have also accumulated a host of honors, including Melissa Moreno, a County Teacher of the Year, Debra McLaren, Ed.D., Couty Elementary Principal of the Year, and Francisco Escobedo, Ed.D., County Superintendent of the Year, among others.

Chula Vista Elementary School District’s commitment to providing students with a rigorous 21st Century education, rooted in high quality instruction, has not gone unnoticed by the State. Among the many accomplishments of CVESD, more than one-third of the District’s campuses have been recognized as California Honor Roll schools by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE).

The California Honor Roll is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and highlight successful practices that improve outcomes for students. Greg Jones, ERP and CBEE board chairman, said, “Educational success must be data-informed. These Honor Roll schools and districts are improving student achievement and we have the data to prove it. It’s critical that the business community support and promote educational success as today’s students are tomorrow’s workforce.”

Chula Vista Elementary School District campuses that have received the Honor Roll distinction include:

Casillas (Joseph) Elementary, Castle Park Elementary, Clear View Elementary, Cook (Hazel Goes) Elementary, Eastlake Elementary, Halecrest Elementary, Hilltop Drive Elementary, Loma Verde Elementary, Otay Elementary, Palomar Elementary, Parkview Elementary, Rice (Lilian J.) Elementary, Rohr (Fred H.) Elementary, Silver Wing Elementary, Tiffany (Burton C.) Elementary, Valle Lindo Elementary, and Valley Vista Elementary.

CVESD Superintendent Francisco Escobedo, Ed.D. had said, “Our students and staff work very hard to achieve the results we have experienced in our District. The Honor Roll distinction is a credit to everyone involved in supporting our teaching and learning.”
