Award-winning concert artist, entrepreneur and music educator Aaron Kahn has proudly announced the launch of an inspiring new classical musical project exploring interwoven themes of social justice (including slave songs protected and preserved by the Smithsonian), Jewish melody, and Ukrainian sovereignty. This project is a pivot from its original direction with a brand-new vision. David Rozenblatt, well-established Ukrainian-Jewish composer, has already written Aaron a solo trumpet piece (in record time!) that will go alongside tracks from his ballet Chronicle. Aaron, a Portland-based American artist, is organizing the project at his contemporary Jewish artists’ residency (Art/Lab) exhibition to premiere it on June 1st, 2023. To organize this project and make it successful, Aaron is seeking help and support through a recently launched crowdfunding campaign on Gofundme, where he is welcoming generous community support and backing.
“Having executed a number of creative artistic initiatives, played trumpet for 20 years with seven at a professional level, I am deeply committed to establishing peace in the world through my music,” said Aaron Kahn, while introducing this project to the Gofundme community. “This project is about co-creation, juxtapositions, and creative integrity and vitality, with an overarching social justice motif,” he added. According to Aaron, this project is meant to inspire audiences with its experimentalism and championing of human progress towards peace.
The Gofundme campaign is located on the web at https://gofund.me/4c871d5a and backers from around the world can become a part of this project by making generous pledges and donations. Moreover, the goal of this Gofundme campaign is to raise a small sum of US $6,000, and in the spirit of unity and togetherness, Aaron is offering a full reward package for every donor: an audio recording of the world premiere, video footage from the exhibition, and, with permission from choreographer Dwight Rhoden from Alvin Ailey, an exclusive high-definition download of the original live performance of Chronicle at the Joyce Theater in NYC. Furthermore, more details are available on the Gofundme campaign page of the project.
