Christopher Davis-Shannon : “Daffodil” Video and Free Download

Philadelphia Jazz Artist Debuts New Trio

Christopher Davis-Shannon’s fervent baritone floats over the bouncing rhythms of fiddle, and upright bass in his latest single, “Daffodil”. A sound that will instantly transport you back to the early twentieth century that was captured at Philadelphia’s own historic Ruba Club in a live recording with accompanying videography by Bob Sweeney, appropriately filmed in 8mm.

Davis-Shannon is joined by bassist Alexandre Delcourt, and violinist Michael Durkan giving a nod to the American string bands of American music with enough modern sensibility to eschew feeling antiquated. The track is offered as a free download featuring a B side of the 1930 Jimmy McHugh, and Dorothy Fields hit “On the Sunny Side of the Street”.

A modern vagabond Davis-Shannon has toured the world as a performer on stages from New Zealand to New Orleans, from Las Vegas to New York City. Not content with being labelled a traditionalist, he forges ahead with unique takes on timeless classic, as well as originals, with a sound that captivates new and old.

Hear the trio August 27th at Paris Bistro in Chestnut Hill, and join in the fun as Davis-Shannon begins hosting a traditional jam session at Fergie’s Pub the last Saturday of each month, starting in September.
