In a Rubik’s Cube public welfare lesson, 29 years old Chinese hand sports master Xia Yan restored a Rubik’s cube in just few seconds that strongly inspired students. ‘You can feel the desire from their eyes, especially those children who lives in mountain area and have limit access to the new knowledge.’
Xia Yan is a hand extreme sport player, also an instructor for teaching children including Rubik’s Cube and Klotski puzzle. He just refreshed a world record this May for Fastest time to solve a 4 x 5 Klotski puzzle with a result 6.022 seconds and the evidence was verified by Unison World Record.
Xia Yan told Unison World Record reporter, ‘It is said that there are only two animals in the world that can reach the top of the pyramids: the eagle and the snail. I may not have the talent of an eagle, but I can persist like a snail.’
‘I believe the 10,000 hours law. When you have a firm goal and applicable working method, you are sure to succeed. It may take 5 years or 10 years, but finally you will get the dreamed result.’ Xia said. Malcolm Gladwell, the author of the 10,000 hours law, believes that 10,000 hours of exercise is the necessary step for anyone to go from mediocre to world-class, and that even if you work eight hours a day, five days a week, it will take you at least five years. From 2008 to December 2018, Xia Yan got his first world record for fastest time to solve a Rubik’s Cube by a team of two. Xia practice this world record for 10 years and he used his own experience to improve this law.
In 2020, he also created a new world record for fastest time to solve a Rubik’s Magic puzzle blindfolded with 1.62 seconds. Till now, Xia Yan already have 14 world record certificates.
‘Many children may not be able to afford a piano, but they can easily have a Rubik’s Cube or Klotski puzzle.’ Now Xia organized many public welfare lessons for children in Xi’an and some Sichuan cities. Currently Xia already have over 3000 students and four of them(Jiang Lai, Jiang Su, Zhang Zhiao, Feng Jueshen ) also break the world record for Rubik’s Cubes. ‘What I want to do is to reduce parental prejudice, then teach Children the basic solutions to help them develop their own intelligence and have a better future.’
