Cerion Advanced Invests $1.5 million in Analytics Equipment; Becomes Dedicated Analytics Facility for Nanoscale Materials

“”Our investment in analytical equipment continues to reinforce Cerion as the leading force in the commercialization of nanomaterials. These investments will not only accelerate the speed of our nanomaterial design and scale-up, but also reduce the total”

Rochester, NY (January 28, 2019) Cerion Advanced Materials has invested $1.5 million in analytical equipment to bring routine characterization of metal, metal oxide, and ceramic nanomaterials in-house.  Additional investments have been made for dedicated facilities and personnel.  This new analytics lab, in conjunction with the company’s interdisciplinary team of materials scientists and engineers, makes Cerion one of the most sophisticated, state-of-the-art companies within the nanotechnology community.

Cerion creates and optimizes nanomaterials as a service to industrial and defense customers, enabling improved performance for customer’s products across a wide variety of industries.  This significant expansion of Cerion’sanalytics footprint provides the ability to uniquely characterize a wide variety of size and non-size attributes important to nanomaterial design, scale-up, and manufacturing.

“Global demand for nanomaterials is escalating at an unprecedented pace,” said Landon Mertz, CEO, Cerion Advanced Materials. “Our investment in analytical equipment continues to reinforce Cerion as the leading force in the commercialization of nanomaterials.  These investments will not only accelerate the speed of our nanomaterial design and scale-up, but also reduce the total cost related to creating next generation nanomaterials for our customers.”

About Cerion Advanced Materials

Established in 2007, Cerion is an industry leader in the science of designing, scaling and manufacturing of metal, metal oxide and ceramic nanomaterials.

The cost of developing advanced expertise in nanomaterials is prohibitively expensive and time intensive, resulting in a significant barrier to entry for companies considering the use of nanotechnology. To address this, Cerion pioneered a business model of rapid and cost-effective research, development, scale-up andmanufacturing of nanomaterials as a service.  The firm’s customers are multi-national, large-cap industrial companies and the domestic defense market.  Typical customers who work with Cerion are developing either new products or systems intended to leverage the improved performance benefits nanomaterials can provide.

Cerion’s position in the market is enabled by three strategic competitive advantages: a deep and demonstrated capability in a.) the precision design and customization of both nanomaterial size and non-size attributes, b.) effective processes to scale from the lab to prototype and industrial-rate manufacturing, and c.) industry-leading, cost-effective manufacturing systems and production capacities.
