Boundary Capital Partners portfolio company raises £3.6m to accelerate growth

Dymag Group, the British designer and manufacturer of carbon hybrid automotive wheels, is predicting a record 2019 following a £3.6m investment from Puma.

Dymag raised two previous rounds of funding in 2015 and 2017 led by Boundary Capital that enabled it to secure partnerships with several of the world’s leading sports car manufacturers and develop a growing aftermarket presence with regional partners including Forgeline, Brixton Forged, and ADV.1. This new investment will enable Dymag to expand its product range, develop strategic partnerships across key markets and territories and accelerate revenue growth.

Chris Shelley, CEO of Dymag, commented:

“Following a comprehensive search for the right partner to help us at this stage of our development, we chose to work with Puma given the team’s understanding of technology and manufacturing, plus their long-standing commitment to supporting British businesses. This investment enables us to accelerate towards our goal of making Dymag the technology of choice for manufacturers, the aftermarket and tuners anywhere in the world.”

David Gee, Partner at Boundary Capital commented:

“This investment is a testament to Dymag’s success to date with leading automotive brands and provides a platform for the company to become a global leader in lightweight, high performance wheels.”

Dymag is a global pioneer in carbon wheel technology, launching the first commercial carbon motorcycle wheel in 1996 and the first carbon hybrid automotive wheel in 2004.  Across the automotive industry the drive to reduce weight, in particular, unsprung weight, is paramount with leading manufacturers including BMW, Porsche and Ford all announcing plans to adopt carbon fibre wheels.

Dymag’s flagship range, the BOXSTROM BX, comprises a patented carbon fibre barrel mounted on a forged aluminium centrepiece to produce a wheel that delivers an unparalleled combination of performance and efficiency. The hybrid architecture reduces weight by up to 50% compared to standard alloy wheels and improves moment of inertia by up to 60% while offering high levels of design flexibility without comprising safety or performance and surpassing the strictest industry requirements.

At the 2018 SEMA show, Dymag unveiled the BXF wheel which harnesses the performance benefits of the BOXSTROM BX but with even greater styling versatility for the aluminium centrepiece due to its flange technology.  The BXF is aimed at the aftermarket and custom tuners where maximum aesthetic design flexibility is required.
