Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest 2024 Prioritizes Mental Health and Wellness

New York City – May 7th, 2024 – The Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest is proud to announce its commitment to prioritizing mental health and wellness as part of its mission for the 2024 festival. In addition to showcasing the comedic talents of Black women, BWIC Laff Fest will offer a mental health and wellness workshop, providing attendees with a safe space to discuss their mental health needs while incorporating restorative healing through humor.

The mental health and wellness workshop will offer attendees access to in-person and teletherapy services funded by grants and sponsorships. By providing resources and support, BWIC Laff Fest aims to create a supportive environment where comedians can prioritize their mental well-being while pursuing their comedic careers.

The festival kicks off with an unforgettable Opening Night, Wednesday, June 19th at 8 pm at Lincoln Center, featuring renowned headliners Kerry Coddett, Chanel Ali, Ashima Franklin, Vanessa Fraction, and Rita Brent. These talented comedians represent the vibrant diversity and comedic brilliance of Black women in the industry.

BWIC Laff Fest’s mission is threefold: Empowerment, Advocacy, and Community. Through workshops, showcases, and networking events, the festival empowers comedians to unlock their full potential, advocates for mental health and wellness outreach and fosters a strong community of support and collaboration.

Don’t miss this opportunity to join us for a week of laughter, empowerment, and mental health advocacy at the 5th Annual Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest. Together, let’s break down barriers and foster a community of support and healing.
