CROATIA – September 15, 2026 – In e-commerce, winning an award can mark a successful year. Remaining among the highest-rated online stores year after year tells a different story.
For Croatian retailer Bima Shop, that story has been developing for several years.
Between 2021 and 2025, Bima Shop accumulated a series of recognitions at Croatia’s eCommAwards, including the overall Webshop of the Year title in 2023, two Best Content awards and 16 category finalist placements.
The results show an e-commerce operation that has consistently performed across multiple disciplines rather than relying on strength in a single area.
From Best Content to Webshop of the Year
The first major recognition came in 2021, when Bima Shop won first place in the Content category and also finished among Croatia’s Top 10 online stores overall.
Two years later came its biggest achievement.
In 2023, Bima Shop was named the best webshop in Croatia in the overall eCommAwards ranking, competing against 74 evaluated online stores.
The webshop also achieved Top 10 recognition across Content, User Experience (UX), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Legal Compliance and Buyer’s Journey.
The following year demonstrated that the result was not an isolated success.
Among 92 participating Croatian online retailers in the 2024 competition, Bima Shop won Best Content for the second time and finished second overall. It again achieved Top 10 recognition in Content, UX, SEO, Legal and Buyer’s Journey.
In 2025, Bima Shop remained among the country’s leading competitors, finishing fifth overall and reaching the Top 10 in Content, Legal and Analytics.
The webshop also expanded its recognition beyond Croatia in 2025, reaching the final of the regional Web Retailer Award in the Kids category and finishing third.
Across the five-year period, the results add up to one Webshop of the Year title, two Best Content awards and 16 category finalist placements.
Content That Starts With the Customer
One theme runs particularly strongly through Bima Shop’s results: content.
Winning the Content category twice reflects an approach in which content is treated as part of the customer journey rather than simply a way to fill product and category pages.
The challenge is particularly significant in e-commerce. Product descriptions must be understandable and useful to customers while also working effectively in search engines. Category pages must help users navigate large assortments. Blog articles need to answer real questions rather than exist solely to generate traffic.
The Bima team developed its approach around a straightforward principle: understand who the content is for and what problem that content needs to solve.
That means listening to questions customers ask customer service and sales teams, identifying uncertainties that occur before a purchase and turning those insights into useful online content.
The approach was also recognized by the eCommerce Hrvatska jury.
One jury member described Bima Shop as being filled with quality content that helps customers make purchasing decisions, highlighting how the website addresses common customer concerns.
The Strategy Behind the Results
Bima’s e-commerce development has been a team effort, with Mihael Kunac and Goran Peremin among the people contributing to the webshop’s continued development.
A significant part of its digital growth, content and search strategy has been led by Goran Peremin, a marketing and growth specialist whose work focuses on connecting SEO, content, analytics and digital optimization with measurable business objectives.
Rather than treating SEO, content, user experience and conversion as separate projects, the strategy has increasingly focused on how those disciplines influence one another throughout the customer’s journey.
A page that ranks well but does not answer a customer’s question has limited value. A visually polished webshop that is difficult to discover through search faces a similar problem. And traffic itself means little if customers encounter unnecessary friction before completing their purchase.
This broader view of e-commerce development has helped shape the continuous optimization of Bima Shop.
Awards as a Benchmark, Not the Finish Line
The eCommAwards competition evaluates online stores across areas including UX, SEO, legal compliance, analytics, content and Buyer’s Journey.
That breadth is particularly relevant to Bima Shop’s results.
The webshop’s recognition has not been concentrated exclusively in Content, despite its two category wins. Over multiple competitions, Bima has reached finalist positions across SEO, UX, Legal, Analytics and Buyer’s Journey as well.
For the team, independent evaluation provides more than awards.
It creates an external benchmark for identifying what is working and where further improvements can be made.
This philosophy aligns with the purpose of the eCommAwards competition itself: participating stores receive professional analysis designed to help them identify opportunities for improving their websites and communication with customers.
That creates a cycle of measurement, feedback, implementation and further optimization – an approach increasingly important in an industry where technology and customer expectations can change rapidly.
More Than 160,000 Customers and a Growing Digital Operation
Behind the awards is a retail company with a history extending well beyond e-commerce.
Bima is operated by KB d.o.o., a Croatian company founded in 1990. Today, the business employs more than 100 people, operates 16 physical retail stores in Croatia and has served more than 160,000 customers.
Its online assortment spans toys and children’s products, home and kitchen products, gifts, decorations, seasonal collections and other consumer goods.
The combination gives the company’s digital team something that purely online businesses do not always have: direct insight from both physical and digital retail.
Questions asked in stores, conversations with customer support, search behavior, website analytics and purchasing patterns can all contribute to understanding what customers actually need.
That knowledge can then influence everything from product information and category architecture to SEO strategy and editorial content.
The Next Challenge: E-Commerce in the AI Era
The environment that produced Bima Shop’s first Content award in 2021 is already significantly different from today’s digital landscape.
Artificial intelligence is changing how content is produced and discovered. Search engines are evolving. Customers increasingly expect immediate answers, faster websites and simpler purchasing processes.
For established online retailers, the challenge is therefore no longer simply to create more content.
It is to create more useful content, supported by trustworthy information, technical performance, customer understanding and measurable business objectives.
For Bima Shop, that means continuing the same process that contributed to its recognition over the previous five years: testing, measuring, listening to customers and improving.
The awards provide evidence of what has already been achieved.
The more important question is what comes next.
