Better Home Heat Council Of The Lehigh Valley Commits To Net Zero Carbon Emissions

Local heating oil business owners commit to net-zero emissions by 2050 with a historic resolution passed unanimously at the Better Home Heat Council of the Lehigh Valley.

The Better Home Heat Council voted unanimously to ratify the “Providence Resolution” on October 3rd, 2019. This resolution calls for the Northeast heating oil industry to achieve a 15% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2023, a 40% reduction by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050.

On September 16th, 2019, the Providence Resolution was unanimously approved by a group of more than 300 Northeast heating oil industry professionals at the 2019 Heating & Energizing America Trade Show (HEAT Show). Following the annual HEAT Show, a motion was made to ratify the resolution by Vice President, Tony Malandra, of Yeager’s Fuel in Allentown, PA, and seconded by Associate Member, Mark Smith, of Advanced Fuel Solutions at the BHHC-LV monthly membership meeting on October 3rd in Breinigsville, PA. The BHHC-LV members in attendance unanimously approved the resolution.

“The Providence Resolution further emphasizes the commitment that heating oil dealers have to the preservation of the environment,” said Steve Ohl, President of the Better Home Heat Council of The Lehigh Valley.

The Better Home Heat Council of The Lehigh Valley is a consumer advocacy association representing 14 heating oil and energy suppliers throughout the state of Pennsylvania. BHHC-LV’s members are an important part of the Lehigh Valley and Poconos’ economy and they support the local region’s homeowners and businesses through the storage and distribution of heating oil, diesel, and kerosene fuels.
